The elusive goal of one rank one pay seems as distant as stars in another galaxy. The approach to the pursuit by movement managers requires a radical shift and infusion of fresh ideas. With government doling out bits of alms to divert attention and elections to the Indian parliament having reached a conclusion in favour ruling party, hopes of ex-serviceman in India for the time being lay in ruins. The leaders of the movement seem to have gone in hibernation. The soldiers who subscribed and sweated in the sweltering heat of Delhi for the movement now appear as wide eyed lost children. It shall be indeed disappointing to see the movement withering away in the aftermath of elections. It raises questions on the sincerity and credibility of the movement leaders. One wonders whether they orchestrated the whole jamboree to attract the attention of the established political parties to gain foot hold for joining the main stream politics and be noticed by the parties. If so, it was certainly a retrograde bipartisan act with self centred motives. If not then it shall appear that the they were perhaps lacking in will and lost their hearts well before the battle is joined.
The movement has perhaps entered in to a long haul mode. It shall require the last of reserves of determination of the aging veterans to sustain and reach a elusive logical conclusion. For the time being it shall have to find new standard bearers and declare its validity to the community at large. It shall require:-
(a) Organisation of service veterans at district and state levels.
(b) Frequent gathering of cell leaders for validating their intent to pursue the goal.
(c) Discussions and debates to formulate tactical approach and draw more people to the cause of the movement
(d) Attract the attention of the politicians in the major parties to raise veterans interest in the parliament.
